Former leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Sunday demanded exemplary punishment for the killers of former BCL central leader and Chattogram Commerce College unit general secretary Md Mohiuddin Sohel.
They made the call at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) auditorium in city’s Segunbagicha area this morning.
Mentioning that Sohel had a clean image, former president of BCL Mahmud Hasan Ripon said, “Even a general diary was not lodged against him.”
The perpetrators not only killed him, but also labelled Sohel as an extortionist by spreading falsehood about the BCL leader, he said, adding, “We are strongly condemning such falsehood and demanding punitive punishment against the killers.”
BCL Former Vice-Presidents Rashidul Mahmud Russel, Hasanuzzaman Chowdhury Liton, Rafiqul Alam Gaffari Rasel, Md Abu Sayeed, Fazlul Haque, Joint General Secretary Shahinur Rahman Tutul, Iqbal Mahmud Bablu, Ripon Poddar, organising secretary Mizanur Rahman Shaheen and publicity and publication secretary Arifur Rahman Ujjal, among others, were present at the press conference.
Sohel was beaten to death by a mob in Pahartali railway market in the port city on Monday.-BSS
