Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad congratulated Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on her election as leader of the House for the third consecutive term.
“Such achievement of Sheikh Hasina is not only extraordinary in the history of Bangladesh but also in the democratic world. It is also a matter
of honor for the democracy,” said Ershad in a message on Saturday.
He expressed the hope that the development trend of the country would be accelerated further under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Ershad who will act as the leader of the opposition in the parliament has assured that the opposition would extend all-out support to the government
for the welfare of the people as well as the country.
He will act as the leader of the opposition while his younger brother and JP Co-Chairman GM Quader as deputy leader of the opposition.
Sheikh Hasina was unanimously elected as the chief of the Awami League parliamentary party in the first meeting of the newly elected MPs of the
Awami League held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban
Hasina had also been elected as the leader of the House in 1996, 2009 and 2014.-BSS
