The lawyers of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Wednesday filed separate appeals with the Election Commission (EC) against the rejection of her nominations in three constituencies.
On behalf of Khaleda Zia, Barrister Kaisar Kamal submitted the appeal for Feni-1 constituency while Barrister Nowshad Jamir for Bogura-6 and Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder for Bogura-7 constituencies at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city on the last day of filing appeals with the EC against the rejection of nomination papers by the returning officers.
After submitting the petitions, Barrister Kaiser Kamal told the journalists that they submitted three appeals with the EC against rejection of their client’s (Begum Khaleda Zia) nominations in three constituencies.
Earlier, the returning officers on December 2 (Sunday) rejected Khaleda’s all the three nomination papers because of her conviction for more than two years in two graft cases.
The EC will hold hearings on December 6, 7 and 8 to settle the appeals. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is December 9 while election symbols will be allocated on December 10.
The election will be held on December 30.-BSS
