Stocks witnessed upward trend on Wednesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were financial institutions, insurance, jute and textile. A total of 139 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 41.73 points up at 5,422.65. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same
trend with 6.46 points up at 1,247.76 and with 6.79 points up at 1,899.46 respectively.
The volume of shares increased to 14.57 crore from Tuesday’s 12.43 crore shares while the daily turnover in value at the DSE increased to Taka 563.67
crore from Tuesday’s Taka 488.40 crore.
At the DSE, price of 170 securities out of the day’s 338 traded issues closed higher against 112 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were BD Finance, Asia Pacific, Midas Finance, Sonali Ansh and Rahim Textile. The major losing issues were WMSHIPYARD, BD
Auto Cars, ISNLTD, National Life Insurance and Tallu Spinning.
KPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by UPGDCL, Ifad Autos, DSSL and Active Fine.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 84.56 points up at 16,670.44.
At the CSE, 249 issues were traded. Of those, 124 closed higher and 95 closed lower while 21.88 crore shares worth Taka 85.67 crore changed hands.-BSS
