Bangladesh cricket team’s iconic batsman, Mahmudullah Riyad has shined with the bat on his PSL debut for Quetta Gladiators. Although his team could not able to win the match and beaten by five wickets to Islamabad United, he showed his class with the bat.
 
After winning the toss Islamabad asked Quetta Gladiators to bat first. Quetta got fine start Shafiq and Shehzad added 35 runs off 25 balls in the opening stand. Eventually, Mohammad Sami started dominating. He sent back Shehzad and Pietersen in back to back deliveries. Then Rossouw and Shafiq took the responsibility. They stood a partnership of 31 runs in the third wickwt Partnership.
 
Watson broke the valuable partnership by sending back Rossouw to the pavilion in the tenth over of the match. After the dismissal of Rossouw, Mahmudullah came to the crease and started to play sensible cricket. Asad Shafiq got out after scoring 45 runs in the 13th over of the match when their score was 85. After the fall of skipper, Riyad and Perera led Quetta to post a total of 148 for 6 in 20 overs. Perera scored quick firing 27 runs of 19 balls, while Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 29 runs. He faced 20 balls and played one six and two fours to score those runs.
 
Mohammad Sami and Shane Watson bought up two wickets respectively.
 
In reply, Smith and Billings started dominating over bowlers of Quetta from the very beginning of the match. They added 39 runs in the opening stand. Although Smith could not able to carry his innings long and got out by scoring 10 runs, Billings remained unbeaten till the end of the match. Quetta Gladiators created some chances, they sent back threee top order batsman within 75 runs but did not able to seal the victory.
 
Billing’s firing knock of 78 runs off 49 balls including 8 fours and 3 sixes alongside Watson’s 36 off 27 balls led Islamabad to seal the victory of five wickets against Quetta Gladiators. Mohammad Nawaz picked up two wickets by giving away 18 runs. At the same time, Gul, Perera and Hasan each took one wicket.-BDcrictime
