JP to announce 300 candidates on October 20: Ershad

Prime Minister’s Special Envoy and Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Alhaj Hussein Muhammad Ershad has said his party will announce names of 300 contesting candidates for the eleventh parliamentary polls on October 20.
“JP has completed all preparations toward the direction, finalised list of candidates and their names will be announced from the grand rally scheduled to be held on Sohrawardi Uddyan in the capital city on October 20,” he said.
Ershad said this while talking to local journalists at his ‘Sky View’ residence after arriving in the city today on a two-day visit.
Responding to a question, Ershad said there is no conflict with his wife (Rawshan Ershad, Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangshad) and younger brother (Golam Muhammad Quader, JP’s Co-Chairman).
“Jatiya Party is much stronger than any time before. Our goal is to go to power,” Ershad mentioned.
Regarding BNP’s participation in the upcoming parliamentary election, Ershad said, “I cannot speak of BNP. It is the matter of BNP whether they come to election or not. I cannot say what will happen in future.”
Referring to the present position of his party in Rangpur, he informed journalists that Rangpur is the strongest fort of Jatiya Party and none can create crack in
Presidium Member of Jatiya Party Major (Retired) Khaled Akhter, General Secretary of Rangpur district Jatiya Party SM Fakhruzzaman Jahangir, its city unit’s General Secretary SM Yasser, district unit’s General Secretaries Alhaj Abdur Razzaque and other local leaders were present.-BSS
