Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Sunday said there is no scope of doing politics over the treatment of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia as she is being given proper treatment with due honor.
“We would form a fresh medical board for her if necessary. She is a former prime minister, politician and aged woman. We are very much aware about her treatment,” Nasim said.
The health minister came up with the observations while addressing a discussion and Iftar Mahfil organized by his office at capital’s Officers’ Club.
Presided over by State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque Swapan, the function was also addressed by Health Services Division Secretary Sirajul Haque Khan, Family Planning Division Secretary Foyez Ahmed, Bangladesh Medical Association President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad President Prof Dr Iqbal Arslan, among others.
Nasim urged BNP leaders not to spread falsehood over Khaleda’s treatment, adding, “There is no provision of giving treatment to any prisoner going outside the jail code. She is being given proper treatment and that will be provided in the future too. We would like to assure all that there will be no negligence about her treatment.”-BSS
