Former deputy speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and BNP chairperson's adviser Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui died at private hospital on Sunday. He was 71.
Akhtar Hamid breathed his last at 12:15 pm at United Hospital in city’s Gulshan area.He had been suffering from lung cancer.
He is survived by wife, two sons, a daughter, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
The second namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Jatiya Sangsad premises on Monday. Later, will be then taken in his native Naogaon and will be buried there after another namaz-e-janaza.
A three-time MP from the Naogaon-3 constituency, Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui was born in 1947 in Noagaon.
He served as the deputy speaker of the eighth parliament from 2001 t0 2006.
