Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said on Tuesday that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had cut the best political joke of recent times by saying that she had pardoned Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina.
"On the contrary it is Khaleda Zia who should apologize to the nation for the crimes committed by her husband Ziaur Rahman and those committed by her, "he said.
The minister cited the gruesome killings of August 15 1975, the grenade attacks of 21st August 2004 and the arson by fire in early 2014. She should also apologize for rehabilitating the Pakistani collaborators of 1971.
The minister was speaking at a press conference at his office today.
Inu also regretted that Khaleda had not indicated any change of mind or course and was insistent on following her track of the past.
"It's rather confusing, "he said."She says she wants an election facilitating government, interim government and neutral government - all in the same breath, "he said."She is not clear about what exactly she wants, "he added "She wants a ghost government it seems," he said.
He also regretted that BNP had not shown any indication of disassociating her party from those of the militants and war criminals.
"What she wants is to confuse the nation and create a constitutional crisis. We will not allow it. We will remain very much within the constitution as we have done in the past," he said.-BSS
