Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam on Sunday said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is hatching conspiracies to make the next parliament election controversial and destroy country's democracy.
"Begum Zia, now staying abroad, is plotting against the country to destroy democracy and to make the next parliamentary polls controversial," he said, speaking at a discussion at an auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here.
Jatiya Ganatanthrik League organized the discussion marking the 85th birth anniversary of Lieutenant Commander (Retd) Moazzem Hossain, an accused of Agartala Conspiracy Case.
Quamrul Islam said Begum Zia is conspiring at a time when the people of the country have stood by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the Rohingya issue as she urged all to be united at this crucial moment.
Lawmaker Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Awami League South City Unit General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Jatiya Press Club Vice President Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, among others, addressed the discussion with Jatiya Ganatanthrik League President MA Jalil in the chair.-BSS
