Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, said on Sunday that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia would have to return to the country and put forward her proposals before the government could deliberate upon them.
She must also dissociate with those who burned people to death, the Collaborators of 1971 and the Killers of 1975 before she could be given license for democracy.
The minister was speaking at a local school reunion programme as chief guest.
Inu said Khaleda has no space to apologize. She has to face trial. "We don't want to hear any sermons about democracy from her, "he said.
"We want to know if she will disassociate with the Collaborators and Killers," he added.
Members of the local administration and leaders of the minister's political party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASHOD), were present during the occasion.-BSS
