Awami League joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif said here on Sunday that the Election Commission will delimit election constituencies to make the next general elections free and fair and as well as bringing a balance in the number of voters.
"The Election Commission is set to delimit the election constituencies to hold the next general elections in a free and fair manner and as well as bringing a balance in the number of voters," he said.
Hanif added: "It's a matter of a policy and there is nothing to be panicked about it." He said this in reply to a question from reporters after exchanging post-Eid greetings with the cross section of people at his PTI Road residence in the town this morning.
Hanif's comments came as the BNP said the EC's delimitation of the election constituencies before the dialogue has "created a panic among the countrymen".
The AL joint general secretary said the BNP has become politically bankrupt as it has no goal. "The BNP has no goal and vision and its programme is going on aimlessly," he said.
Senior Vice-President of district Awami League and District Council Chairman Hazi Robiul Islam, General Secretary Ajgar Ali, Town AL President Tazal Ali Khan and General Secretary Ataur Rahman Ata were present on the occasion, among others.-BSS
