Two suspected drug traders were killed during a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Ashik Jahangir Kudrat, 32, son of Md Abdul Hakim, hailed from Mymensingh district and Md Arif Hossain, 30, son of Abdul Barek, from Narayanganj.
A gang of criminals opened fire on a team of elite force from a Cox's-Bazar bound truck when the team signaled the vehicle at a check post on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf road early hours, Lieutenant Mirza Shahed of RAB Teknaf office said.
For self-defense, the RAB members also fired back that triggered the gunfight.
After the gunfight, they recovered two bodies from the truck and 1lakh Yaba tablet, two locally made arms and eight bullets.
