At least 18 people were killed in separate road and rail accidents in seven districts on Sunday.
 
Among the dead, five in Tongi, three in Kishoreganj, four in Naogaon, two in Kushtia, and one each in Barguna, Kurigram, Mymensing and Manikganj.
 
In Gazipuri, five people were killed and 20 others injured as a commuter train derailed at Natun Bazar area in Tongi of Gazipur on Sunday.
 
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
 
Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence Station officer Md Atiqur Rahman said five bogies of a Dhaka-bound Jamalpur commuter train veered off the track around 12:30pm, leaving four dead on the spot and 20 others injured.
 
Members of Fire Service with the help of locals rescued the wounded and sent them to different hospitals and clinics.
 
Tongi Railway police outpost ASI Md Delwar Hossain confirmed the accident news.
 
In Kisharganj, three persons were killed in a collision between a tractor and an auto rickshaw in Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj on Sunday.
 
The deceased were identified as auto rickshaw driver Lalon Miah, 35, passenger Shahin, 22, and Abdul Karim, 28.
 
Local people said a tractor rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area Sunday morning, leaving Shahin and Abdul Karim dead on the spot.
 
Later, Lalon died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
 
Kuliarchar Police Station OC said that the auto rickshaw and the tractor were seized. 
 
In Naogaon, four people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Porsha upazila of Naogaon on Sunday.
 
A bus hit a battery-run easy bike from behind in Kushorpara area under the upazila this morning, leaving two spot dead and five others injured, said officer in-charge (OC) of Porsha police station Rafiqul Islam.
 
The dead are: Hira Begum, wife of Md Rana of Burakuri village, Abdus Salam and Ashraful Islam, 42, of Kosna village, in the upazila.
 
Two other injured easy bike passengers died at Porsha upazila health complex, said the OC.
 
In Kushtia, two motorcyclists were killed as a train hit their bike in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia on Sunday morning.
 
The dead are: Ayatullah, son of Saidul Islam, and Mubin Hossain, son of Saidul Hussain, hailed from Ailchhara village in the upazila.

Ayatullah, was a class VIII student and Mubin a class IX student of Ailchhara Secondary High School.
 
A train hit a motorcycle on Poradaha Railway Junction level crossing around 11.45 am, said Abul Hashem Khandaker, sub inspector of Poradaha Railway police station.
 
Poradaha Station Master Shariful Islam said a shuttle train engine hit a bike while making a turn at the level crossing, leaving one biker dead on the spot while another died at a hospital.
 
In Barguna, a 13-month-old baby was crushed under the wheels of a soil excavator in Patharghata of Barguna.
 
Abdullah, son of Nazrul Islam, crawled into the excavator and died at about 10:30am.
 
In Manikganj, a bus ran over a youth in Muljan area under Sadar upazila of Manikganj on Sunday morning.
 
Mintoo Mia met the tragic end of his life at about 8:15am.
 
In Kurigram, a cyclist was killed when a truck hit him on RK road of Kurigram on Sunday evening.
 
The dead is Mijanur Rahman, 35, son of Akbar Ali.
