Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested two suspected “JMB” men who allegedly planned to conduct subversive activities in the capital.
Law enforcers claimed that five militants, who are the members of the banned Islamist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), and gathered to plot subversive activities in the capital. RAB arrested two while three others managed to flee during a raid at Tejgaon in the capital.
One among them is the regional chief of the banned group in Jenidah.
During the raid, RAB also claimed to have seized some local arms, extremism-inciting books and foreign currencies in the possession.
Lt Col Anwaruzzman, commanding officer of RAB-2, said this at a press briefing at Karwan Bazar in the capital at noon.
