Four suspected Neo-JMB operatives surrendered today as the law enforcement agencies concluded its 12-hour drive at the militant hideout in Nayarhat village under Ashulia police station.

Commander Mufti Muhammad Mahmud Khan, the legal and media wing director of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), confirmed the newsmen this afternoon.

He said the detainees -- Mozammel Huq, Rashed-un-Nabi, Ifranul Islam and Alamgir Hossain -- are the followers of Sarwar-Tamim group of the home-drown Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The RAB force also detained Mohammad Ibrahim, the owner of the house, for quizzing in this connection.

Mufti Mahmud said the law enforcement agencies earlier cordoned off the single-storey tin-shed house in Chaurabari area of Nayarhat since early hours of today on the basis of secret information.

He said the JMB operatives opened fire targeting anti-crime elite force when they repeatedly requested the militants to surrender.

Witnesses said the RAB members before starting the drive at the den evacuated nearby houses.

A neighbour of the house said one of the arrestees rented a portion of the house before two months with Tk 2,500 per month identifying himself as a garments worker.-BSS
