The High Court (HC) on Sunday ordered the Election Commission (EC) to register Barrister Nazmul Huda-led ‘Trinomul BNP’ as a political party.
An HC bench of Justices Tariq-ul Hakim and Justice Md Shuhrawardi passed the order declaring the rule issued in this regard as appropriate.
Earlier on August 14, the High Court issued the rule, asking Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Election Commission secretary and assistant secretary to reply as to why the court shall not declare EC’s decision not to register the party as illegal.
Barrister Nazmul Huda took part in the hearing for Trinomul BNP, while Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim stood for the state.
The court also took opinions of three amici curiae advocate AF Hasan Arief, advocate MK Rahman and Dr Shahdin Malik in this regard.
