SC order on compensation to Rajib’s family Tuesday

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will deliver its order on leave-to-appeal petitions filed by Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and Sajan Paribahan to provide half of Tk 1 crore as compensation to the family of Titumir College student Rajib Hasan who lost his arm in a road accident.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, fixed the date on Monday (May).
Earlier on May 17, the court fixed Monday (May 21) for delivering its verdict.
On May 8, An HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque ordered the owners of BRTC and Sajan Paribahan to pay Tk one crore to two brothers of Rajib. Later, BRTC submitted a petition to the concerned branch of Appellate Division to stay the order.
On April 3, Rajib Hossain, a third-year student of Government Titumir College, lost his right hand after it got stuck between two speeding buses trying to overtake each other in the capital's Bangla Motor area.
