he Supreme Court on Thursday scrapped the trial proceedings of a graft case filed against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman's mother-in-law Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu.
It directed the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to issue a fresh notice asking Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu to submit her wealth statement.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha,  passed the order disposing of the leave to appeal filed by Banu challenging the High Court verdict.
The High Court delivered its verdict on February 16 in 2016, rejecting a writ petition filed by Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu.
On April 12, the court of senior special judge of Dhaka Kamrul Hossain Molla issued warrant against Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu in the case, taking cognizance of the charges.
Later on April 23, she surrendered before the court and got bail.
The ACC on January 30 in 2014 filed the case with Ramna police station in Dhaka as Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu refused to submit her wealth statement to the commission.
Earlier on January 25, the ACC sent a notice to Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu for submitting her wealth statement.
But she then filed a writ petition with the High Court against the notice and got a stay order.
In response to an appeal filed by the ACC against the order, the HC then halted it.
