The government has reduced the number of subjects by three and scores by 200 in Junior School Certificate and equivalent examinations in an effort to ease the stress on the students.

The decision was taken at a meeting at the Secretariat office on Thursday.

Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Sohrab Hossain confirmed the matter.

Now, there will be no second paper in English and Bangla, and an optional subject in the exams. It means the number of subjects will come down to seven from the existing 10, bdnews24.com reports.

According to the changed decision, the examination will be held in 650 scores instead of the existing 850 in JSC, 850 instead of the existing 1,050 in JDC
