Nahid for developing education with limited resources

Stressing the need for building skilled human resources, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Thursday said all have to work together to develop country's education with existing limited resources.
"We have to keep the new generation ready on ward to build a developed country . . . we should make them (new generation) world standard to compete the global competitions," he told the concluding session of a four-day conference of BGB-run educational institutions at BGB Pilkhana headquarters here.
Noting different development initiatives of the incumbent government, the minister said the government in line with the education policy is working relentlessly to introduce world standard education in lieu of traditional system one.
"We must ensure basic education till class-VIII for all. Besides, priority is also being given to the technical and vocational education," he added.
Nahid also urged the heads of all educational institutions to invest their utmost sincerity and upholding the morality to ensure quality education in their respective institutions.
Vice-Chancellor of Asia Pacific University Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Abul Hossain and BGB Guimara Sector Commander Colonel Abdullah Al Mamun, among others, spoke on the occasion.-BSS
