Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Stock markets plunged further on Tuesday due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were insurance, food and allied and textile. A total of 234 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 81.93 points down at 5,623.64. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 17.57 points down at 1,333.19 and with 21.90 points down at 2,085.54.
The day's trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 282.32 crore from Monday's Taka 298.25 crore. But the daily trade rose to 8.68 crore shares from 8.17 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day's 336 securities, prices of 18 securities closed higher against 291 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were CAPMIBBLMF, Padma Oil, Shasha Denims, EBLNRBMF and 1JANATAMF. The major losing companies were Reliance Insurance, Meghna Condense Milk, Sonargaon, Shyampur Sugar and Imam Button.
Queen South Textile topped the turnover list followed by Monno Ceramics, GP, Square Pharma and Ifad Autos.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 261.48 points down at 17,385.98.
At CSE, 230 issues were traded. Of those, 18 closed higher and 196 closed lower when 64.42 lakh shares worth Taka 26.36 crore changed hands.-BSS
