Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) decided to create more tourist guides skilled in different languages to serve the foreign travelers who are coming here for leisure in more convenient way.

The BTB has taken the initiatives considering huge scarcity of skilled tourist guides in foreign languages especially Chinese, Japanese and Korean while there are also huge demands of guides fluent in Spanish, French, Italian and Arabic languages.

This was revealed today at the concluding ceremony of a foreign language based tourist guide training programme at Institute of Modern Language (IML) of Dhaka University here.

In collaboration of the IML, the BTB conducted the training programme for 84 students of the institute in seven languages – Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian and Arabic.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary M Mohibul Haque handed over the certificates among the students while Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) Chairman Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir and Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BTB Nikhil Ranjan Roy were present.

Dhaka University’s Tourism and Hospitality Management Department Chairman Professor Dr M Badruzzaman Bhuiyan and IML acting director Sultan Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.-BSS
