Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said here on Friday the highest initiatives would be taken to modernize Jessore Airport for the national interest.
"The highest initiatives will be taken to expand and modernize Jessore Airport as not only the regional interest, also the national interest is involved with it," he said while exchanging views with local businesspeople here.
Menon, also the Workers Party president, said the issue of flight frequencies from the airport is under consideration.
At the meeting, the businessmen handed over a memorandum to the minister.
On behalf of the Beanpole C& F Agents Association, Matiar Rahman and on behalf of Jessore Chamber of Commerce, Shaheen Chowdhury were present.
Later, a delegation of Jessore Zilla School Alumni Association met the minister and invited him to take part in 180th founding anniversary of the school.
Menon, who is a former student of the school, accepted the invitation and completed his registration in this regard.
Apart from leaders of the alumni association, local leaders of Workers Party were present.-BSS
