‘Aparajeyo Bangla’ sculptor Syed Abdullah Khalid died at hospital in Dhaka on Saturday night. He was 75.
Abdullah Khalid’s son, Syed Abdullah Jahir said the Ekushey Padak winning artist breathed his last at BIRDEM at about 12 am.
He was suffering from chronic lungs infection and diabetes for a long while.
He left behind wife, two sons, a daughter and numerous well-wishers to mourn his death.
Sculpture Aparajeyo Bangla on the Dhaka University campus is his iconic work. Khalid began the work of Aparajeyo Bangla in 1973 and the sculpture was inaugurated in 1979.
